We estimate that these activities will take between 3-5 days per year. This will include an induction day in London.
There will be a total of seven Champions in;
The initial commitment will be for a period of two years.
The Students' Charity, UNIAID, has a vision of a world without practical or financial barriers to Higher Education. Our mission is to give students practical support to help them cope with the barriers against a background of steadily increasing student debt. This is achieved via online financial simulations and accommodation bursaries.
The Board is chaired by Professor Deian Hopkin, Vice Chancellor and CEO of London South Bank University. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who can help UNIAID address our current lack of diversity.
The strategic aims which the Board has set are:
During 2005 UNIAID's Student Survivor, our first online campaign, was seen by over a million people and was Highly Commended in the Third Sector Awards. All About U was launched by Bill Rammell, Minister for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education, and is now in use throughout the country. The numbers of UNIAID accommodation bursaries more than doubled. This important work was recently recognised by a government grant to develop a outreach and workshop materials for use in schools and colleges everywhere.
Financial support has mostly been from private sector philanthropy led by the student accommodation provider, UNITE, HSBC Bank plc and a major donor.
The following priorities have been set for 2006:
UNIAID has developed an inspiring culture. Working in a spirit of partnership our outlook is youthful, energetic, open-minded and consultative. UNIAID is independent of government and the higher education sector and our focus is always upon the needs of students (who are involved in everything we do).
Please apply before March 17th 2006.
Interviews will be held - either in person or by phone.
