Volunteering

Thinking of volunteering abroad? Then why not find out more about VSO's Youth for Development Programme?

Amy Merone was a volunteer in Nigeria and has recently started work with the Terrence Higgins Trust.

"I volunteered in Nigeria working within an HIV clinic as a HIV Health Educator and Community Outreach Worker and it was the most fulfilling and happiest time in my life.

"The skills and experiences that I gained there will probably be unmatchable to anything else that I do and the friendships and relationships that I formed within the local community were incredible.

"It was the most challenging thing that I have ever done in my life so far, but I would give anything to still be there."

For more information, see VSO's site at www.vso.org.uk/youth, or call 020 8780 7500.

Toilet paper theft – on the ‘blog’

This month, we’ve picked one up from the blogs…

News hot in from Wisconsin in the USA: a toilet paper thief is on the loose. Every week since June, someone has been stealing toilet paper, six rolls at a time from the men’s bathroom at the Fond Du Lac City Government Center.

Even though the thief always strikes at midday (highly regular movements!), the County Sheriffs Department have yet to apprehend him.
