Accommodation is the single greatest cost for students, often in excess of £2500 a year. UNIAID gives one year's free or supported accommodation to those in extreme vulnerability. We support students who are at risk of either not going, or having to leave, because of severe financial hardship.
Background
The scheme was started in 2004, with generous support from UNITE, the specialist student accommodation provider and launched in the House of Lords by our patron Baroness Susan Greenfield, CBE. Already the UNIAID Bursary Scheme has been able to transform the lives of many. In 2005, there are 44 students across 22 universities.
Information for Students and Universities
UNIAID regrets that it is unable to respond to applications direct from individual students. There is great competition for few places. Universities and partner organizations refer applicants to UNIAID.
