Terms and Conditions

  1. Terms and Conditions
  2. The Foyer UNIAID Accommodation Bursary Scheme is open to UK Nationals, and those given indefinite leave to remain in the UK, who are in full-time undergraduate study in the UK, for the full duration of the academic year 2009-2010.
  3. Successful applicants must produce evidence of a guaranteed place in mainland UK higher education for the year starting September 2009, prior to the bursary being confirmed.
  4. Employees of The UNIAID Foundation, the Foyer Federation, or its accommodation providers, their families*, are not eligible to apply to the scheme. (* The father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandmother, grandfather, grandson, or granddaughter, or; the brother, sister, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew (full or half blood or by affinity) of that person or of that person’s spouse or former spouse, and includes, in relation to a person who is living with another person as husband and wife, any person who would fall within these categories if the parties were married to each other)
  5. Closing date for entries is noon on Tuesday, 31st March, 12.00. UNIAID cannot accept responsibility for entries that are incomplete, delayed or not received. Proof of despatch will not be accepted as proof of delivery.
  6. The decision of the Bursary Selection Panel is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
  7. All bursary awards are non-transferable.
  8. If Recipients cease to be in full time higher education, then they will inform UNIAID, and the bursary accommodation will be vacated within 14 days.
  9. In such cases, the accommodation will then be released and may be allocated to another student, chosen at the sole discretion of UNIAID.
  10. UNIAID reserves the right to withdraw the Bursary award if it is discovered that there has been any previous breach of tenancy contract with the accommodation provider in the past.
  11. UNIAID reserves the right to withdraw the Bursary award if it is discovered that any of the details contained in the application are false.
  12. Bursary recipients agree to pay a standard security deposit at the going rate of the accommodation provider involved to the accommodation provider on arrival at the hall, returnable at the end of the tenancy agreement, less any deductions for wilful or deliberate damage to the property.
  13. All other charges for services used by the bursary recipient in the student hall, and levied by the hall (for example broadband, parking and other services) will be the bursary recipient’s responsibility.
  14. The Accommodation Provider will seek to accommodate bursary recipients' preferences regarding type of accommodation, however there is no guarantee that this will always be possible.
  15. The Accommodation Provider will run its own checks in relation to points 3 and 9 above, before any tenancy is granted.
  16. UNIAID will not routinely share applicants' information with any external organisations beyond those relevant to the processing of the bursary (namely members of the Advisory and Selection Panel, administrative staff at the accommodation provider and University support officer).
  17. The UNIAID Foundation and Foyer Federation has contact with other charitable organisations involved with alleviating student hardship and debt, which may be able to offer applicants help. Applicants can refuse permission for their details to be forwarded to these organisations.
  18. Information is only used for the purpose for which it was requested: the data is kept securely in writing, and on a secure database.
  19. As a general rule, the partners (UNIAID and Foyer Federation) will not share this information with others unless applicants expressly give permission, or under special circumstances, such as when UNIAID believes in good faith that the law requires it.
  20. The Foyer UNIAID Accommodation Bursary Scheme is managed by UNIAID in partnership with The Foyer Federation.
